EcoTrade Hub respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly, securely and transparently. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, protected, retained and deleted when you use EcoTrade Hub.

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the EcoTrade Hub website, marketplace services, dashboards, Android application, iOS application and other services operated as part of the EcoTrade Hub platform.

Our privacy programme is designed with regard to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, applicable guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and other privacy or data-protection requirements that may apply to our services.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you use EcoTrade Hub, we may collect or process information including:

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, username, organisation and account preferences.
  • Business and profile information that you choose to provide when creating a seller, buyer, organisation or marketplace profile.
  • Identity and verification information where verification is required to protect users, transactions or the marketplace.
  • Marketplace information, including products, raw materials, material listings, demand requests, offers and related content that you submit to the platform.
  • Transaction information, including orders, payment references, wallet activity, withdrawals, refunds, escrow-related records and transaction status.
  • Delivery and logistics information, including addresses and fulfilment information needed to coordinate or complete transactions.
  • Communications and support information, including enquiries, complaints, dispute information and correspondence with EcoTrade Hub.
  • Files and media that you intentionally upload, such as product images, marketplace images and verification documents.
  • Technical and security information, such as IP address, browser or app information, session information, authentication events, security logs and information needed to detect abuse or protect accounts.
  • Notification information needed to deliver service, transaction, account or security notifications.

3. How we use information

We may use information to:

  • Create, authenticate and manage accounts.
  • Operate and improve the EcoTrade Hub marketplace.
  • Publish marketplace content authorised by users.
  • Connect buyers, sellers and other marketplace participants.
  • Process and track orders and transaction-related activity.
  • Coordinate payments, withdrawals, refunds and settlements.
  • Support delivery, logistics and transaction fulfilment.
  • Verify accounts and marketplace participants where required.
  • Provide customer support and respond to enquiries.
  • Manage complaints and resolve disputes.
  • Send important account, transaction and security notices.
  • Detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse and security threats.
  • Maintain accounting, audit and transaction records.
  • Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain, analyse and improve the security, reliability and performance of the platform.

4. When information may be shared

EcoTrade Hub does not sell personal information. Information may be shared only where reasonably necessary to operate, secure or comply with obligations relating to the platform.

This may include sharing relevant information with:

  • buyers, sellers or other transaction participants where needed to complete an authorised marketplace transaction;
  • payment and transaction-processing providers;
  • hosting, infrastructure and database providers;
  • object-storage and media-processing providers;
  • email, notification and communications providers;
  • logistics or fulfilment providers involved in a transaction;
  • security, fraud-prevention, monitoring and technical service providers;
  • professional advisers, auditors or service providers where necessary; and
  • regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Service providers are expected to process information only for authorised purposes and to apply appropriate confidentiality, privacy and security protections.

5. Payments and financial information

EcoTrade Hub may process transaction references, payment status, wallet records, withdrawal information and other records needed to operate marketplace transactions.

Where payments are handled by an authorised payment provider, payment information may be submitted directly to that provider. EcoTrade Hub receives and retains only the information reasonably required to identify, reconcile, support and protect the transaction.

6. Security of your information

EcoTrade Hub uses administrative, technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or misuse.

These measures may include access controls, authentication, encrypted network communications, restricted administrative access, security logging, monitoring and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information being processed.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect their passwords, devices and account credentials and should contact us promptly if they suspect unauthorised access to their account.

7. Data retention and account deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to provide the service, protect the platform, resolve disputes, maintain transaction integrity and satisfy applicable legal, accounting, regulatory or security obligations.

When an account deletion request is completed, personal information that is no longer required will be deleted, anonymised or otherwise removed from active use as appropriate.

Certain records may need to be retained after an account is deleted where retention is necessary for completed transactions, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal claims, regulatory obligations or platform security. Where appropriate, retained records may be separated from the active user profile or anonymised while preserving information that must lawfully be retained.

8. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and any lawful limitations, you may request information about the personal data EcoTrade Hub holds about you and ask us to take action concerning that information.

Your available rights may include the right to:

  • request access to your personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of information where applicable;
  • request restriction of certain processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
  • request a portable copy of eligible personal information where applicable; and
  • raise a complaint or privacy concern with EcoTrade Hub or an appropriate data-protection authority.

You do not need to be signed in simply to ask a privacy question or begin a privacy-rights request. We may need to verify your identity before providing account information or carrying out a request in order to protect you and other users.

9. Cookies, sessions and similar technologies

EcoTrade Hub may use cookies, secure session technologies, local storage or similar technologies where necessary for sign-in, account security, preferences, platform operation and authorised analytics.

Where applicable law requires consent for optional technologies, users will be provided with appropriate choices.

10. International processing

Some technology or service providers used to operate EcoTrade Hub may process information in countries other than the country in which you are located.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, EcoTrade Hub will seek to use appropriate safeguards and comply with applicable requirements governing cross-border transfers.

11. Third-party services

EcoTrade Hub may rely on third-party technology and service providers to operate parts of the platform. These providers may process limited information necessary to perform their services.

We expect providers that process personal information on our behalf to maintain privacy and security protections appropriate to the information and services involved.

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, legal obligations or privacy practices change. The latest version will be published on this page together with its effective or updated date.

Where a change materially affects how personal information is handled, we may provide additional notice through the platform or other appropriate communication channels.
